Frequently Asked Questions

We understand that pet care can come with many questions — from preventive checkups to late-night emergencies.

Here are answers to some of the most common questions our East Toronto pet owners ask.

How do I schedule an appointment at O'Connor Veterinary Clinic?

You can book an appointment online or call us at (416) 755-8387. We welcome both scheduled visits and walk-ins. If your pet needs urgent attention, calling ahead helps our team prepare. For your first visit, download the intake form from our New Patient Center so we can get started quickly.

Bring any previous medical records, vaccination history, a list of current medications or supplements, and notes about your pet’s behavior or health concerns. If possible, bring the actual medication bottles. Don’t worry if your records are incomplete — our veterinary team can work with whatever information you have and build from there.

We provide comprehensive care for dogs and cats of all ages and breeds, from puppies and kittens through senior companions. Our wellness and preventive care covers vaccinations, parasite prevention, nutrition counseling, and more. For exotic species such as rabbits or birds, please call (416) 755-8387 to confirm availability before your visit.

Warning signs include difficulty breathing, uncontrolled bleeding, seizures, inability to stand, suspected poisoning, or sudden collapse. If your pet shows any of these symptoms, contact our emergency and urgent care team immediately. For non-critical but concerning symptoms like vomiting, limping, or loss of appetite, we recommend scheduling a same-day appointment when possible.

We recommend annual wellness exams for healthy adult pets and twice-yearly visits for seniors or pets managing chronic conditions. Puppies and kittens need more frequent visits during their first year for vaccination series and developmental checkups. Regular visits help our diagnostic team detect changes early — before minor issues become serious health concerns.
